John Fitzsimmons to exhibit paintings in the US ambassadorial residence in Dhaka Bangladesh
John Fitzsimmons of Fayetteville has been selected to exhibit two of his paintings during US Ambassador Patricia Butenis’ tenure as Ambassador to Bangladesh. This exhibit is part of the United States Department of State’s Arts in Embassies Program, that was established to promote US culture overseas.
Artist’s who have exhibited in the past include: Robert Rauschenberg, Helen Frankenthaler, William de Kooning, Andy Warhol, Kiki Smith, and Dale Chihuly. The exhibit will run for 2 ½ years and will be viewed by official visitors to the Embassy.
The two paintings requested are “Here in this Spring” 20 x 80 inches, oil on panel and “Sea of Green” 36 x 80 inches, oil on panel. Both paintings were completed in 2006. John Fitzsimmons has two upcoming exhibits locally, the first is a group show at the Syracuse Technology Garden that opens August 16 from 5 to 7, regular hours are 8 to 5 week days until December 1, and a solo show at the Rome Art Center opening January 5, 2007. Both exhibits are free and open to the public.
